This year it was 125 years ago that the artist Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) was born. In honor of this Escher year, Museum Bredius organised an exhibition dedicated to presenting optical illusion in art long before Escher. Hoogsteder loaned a trompe l’oeil painting by Cornelis Biltius (1653-1686) to the exhibition.

The Hoogsteder Museum Foundation curated an exhibition for Pulchri’s jubilee. On October 1, the exhibition will be opened by H.R.H Princess Beatrix.
On display are 21 paintings of the ‘Haagse School’, the founders of artists society Pulchri Studio. The exhibition lasts until October 23 and is open to visitors every Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 until 17:00. Entrance is free of charge.

This is why Willem Jan Hoogsteder – collector, dealer and chair of the Hoogsteder Museum Foundation – together with his wife Karin Hoogsteder decided to support the museum in a special way: with the gift of a painting from their private collection.
