Tapestry Art Collection

by Moooi Carpets

We are pleased to announce our new collection of tapestries in collaboration with Moooi Carpets and Uniquole.

The first collection of tapestries depicting works of Old Masters was launched in 2018 and was a enormous success. Now the second collection is almost in production, we’d like to share one of the selected works of art that will be brought back to life as a tapestry:

JAN BAPTIST VAN FORNENBURGH
Antwerp 1585/1595 – 1648/1649 The Hague
Flowers in a Vase

parchment, 28 x 20 cm
painted ca. 1620

Instead of painting in oil on a dark background, Fornenburgh has chosen white parchment and light watercolour to enhance the serene look of this delightful flowerpiece.

Less than 25 still lifes are known to be painted by Jan Baptist van Fornenburgh, one of Holland’s earliest flower painters. Although the bouquet of roses, lillies-of-the-valley, tulips and the carnation seem very real, in real life they bloom in different seasons.

The exquisite vase with expensive gold decoration too, is more beautiful than any existing one. It all is the painter’s prerogative, just like adding a lizard, butterfly, dragonfly and a little bee all in the same flower piece. By doing so, Jan Baptist Fornenburgh has painted a sublime image of nature, surpassing nature itself
